5 yo DS wet at night

5 yo DS is desperate to get out of pull-ups but in spite of a week of waking him in the night to wee he never got through the night dry even then. It’s bringing him down and he’s upset at bedtime. We’ve told him it’ll come in time but he’s miserable. Any suggestions?

Have a 5 year old the same. He asked to come out and we tried 2 nights but was wet despite being lifted. He's been under bowel and bladder nurse for constipation issues which has affected it.

When we were putting him back in I explained about the hormone he needed to develop and he didn't have enough of it yet which was fine and nothing he'd done wrong which he was OK with.

Doesn't help that his 3 year old sister has been out of nappies including at night for over a year but he was happier with the basic explanation of what a hormone is (and when I say basic I mean probably incorrect but vaguely in the area) and that things just take a bit longer for some people.

He wees loads at night. Regularly leaks through his pull-up too.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, our DS often has a wet bed too. I’ll tell him about the hormone. Hopefully we’ll get there soon.

Agree, it's a hormone, there is no skill in being dry at night it's just biology.

Although blackcurrant is advised to be cut out so if he drinks that it might be worth swapping to water or orange.
