Hello, my LO is 12 months and I was wondering if the below were typical behaviours?

  • He just loves grabbing a toy car, sit on truck, pram, basically anything with wheels and will just keep push the toy on the floor and push it round, it has lessened over the past week or so and doesn’t do it for as long as he used to!
  • He loves to also throw stuff around the floor and follow it where he throws it! This can happen for about 10/20 mins before he gets bored! Will also grab balls and put them on a slope to see them roll down.
  • He flaps his hands slightly when getting excited
  • Late to clapping, but even then sort of an awkward clap and will sort of downwards clap
  • sort of like flap the fingers like a stim?
  • wont let us hold his hand when trying to practice walking sometimes
  • cant stand freely
  • can’t walk just yet (only taken a couple of steps)
  • will open and close doors for about 2 mins
  • spin wheels for about 2 mins
  • puts everything in mouth
But he is starting to get easily distracted from those things.

He can do the below;

  • build a tower of 2/3 blocks
  • we ask him where his ball or toy is and he brings it to us
  • will be so nosy when someone leaves or enters room
  • very cuddly
  • When there is something new looks round at us for reassurance he can use it
  • can wave when we say bye to people
  • will copy us when blowing raspberries
  • Can say Nana, Dada, mama, uh-oh, book and owl
  • plays peekaboo with us
  • will look for hidden toys when we have hidden it
  • will remember where we have hidden something
  • throws balls overhead
  • will sometimes look to where we point but can sometimes look at finger
  • looks to where he can hear a sound coming from. For example, when a ball lands in a bush, he will hear that noise and look in that direction
  • isolates the index finger and will point at things. Like a picture in book or words. But not actually point to them
  • will get upset when we leave room
  • ask him where our nose and mouth are and he points to them

i am worried and they say about early intervention with things like autism. He did have 12 month review and she said he was absolutely fine, but I was also diagnosed with PND and PNA. I’m also a FTM, so just a little unsure! I have tried contacting HV and no response as of yet. Thank you.

Perfectly normal behaviours. Step away from the internet and just enjoy your baby developing, otherwise you’ll waste the best years of his life!

Agree with PP - he sounds perfect and completely normal!

All sounds normal and lovely. I know it's easy to say but try and relax and enjoy it goes so quick xx

You’ve listed absolutely loads of stuff he can do, then say you’re worried right at the end. Sorry if I’ve missed the point but I’m not quite sure what you’re concerned about OP?
