Oat instead of Cow

Hi,

My son turns 12 months on Saturday, he is dairy free and I'm sure I was told by my health visitor that he can have oat milk instead of cows milk as a replacement for his formula. Does anyone know if this is right? Or if there is anything better to use than oat?

Also, how much per day should he be having? (He loves his food and eats loads and has done from 6 months).

FTM here and have had loads of experience with babies before my son but non dairy free!

Thanks in advance for any advice 😊

Oat is fine. Ideally oatly Barista as it’s high calorie and forfeited with iodine. He needs to be having 350mg of calcium a day, so if this is his only source of calcium he needs 360ml.

Just be aware that children who are dairy intolerant often don't tolerate soya either (mine doesn't). As pp said, choose high fat oat milk like Oatley Barista - there's a huge difference between the brands in terms of content. We find Minor Figures Barista easier to source but it isn't as high in fat (better than other brands though).
