what is it about a clean nappy that makes them poo as soon as theyre in it??

Nope, you are not the only one ALL babies do this.

Babies are born with an instinct which tells baby to hang on too their eliminations until they are out of a nappy. i.e. Don't soil the nest

So when you change the nappy, the baby think great I'll wee now. By the time the new nappy is on, the wee goes into the fresh nappy.

Some mums place/hold their baby over a potty/toilet at every nappy change and catch a lot of eliminations and don't get this problem. MorningPaper does that with her children.

we did ec for a while but with 2 older children wanting things ALL THE TIME it wasnt easy(but strangely fun espesially when we caught something).i think he likes sound of washing machine so thinks he'll add to washing pile with pooey nappy!

Yes, We EC our 15 month old DD, but in our case it is much easier as she is our only child

Actually, thinking more about the op, dd is much more likely to get a sore bottom if she poos in a nappy that's already damp. I think she knows that, so she waits for a fresh one. Clever little thing
