My son seems to not care about anything. Of course I know he does! I think he lacks motivation in regards to college and life in general. He also eats as a way to cope. Got him a gym membership, offered to help apply for jobs or look into different courses. I know sometimes helping is being a enabler and he will or not do it but its so frustrating! I've been thinking of getting a therapist etc but I don't think he will go! any suggestions.

At 17, shouldn’t he be in a job or full-time education?

I think you are supporting him by encouraging gym membership, where to look for jobs etc. My youngest dc is 19, and we talk about jobs, careers et.

What is he doing now? How does he spend his day?

Yes in full time college! minimal effort!

A therapist seems overkill for what is pretty normal 17 year old behaviour Confused is there something else you're concerned about?

If he's at college then leave him to it. Up to his tutors to chase him is he doesn't hand in coursework etc! He doesn't have to be enthusiastic though.
