Non verbal 2 year old is spitting everywhere! It's a nightmare and even worse because we are with friends at our holiday home and I hate to disgust them.

Any tips to encourage him to stop?

I remember my youngest having a short phase of doing that, aged about three, other children too. I stopped it by using a reasonably stern voice, "No. You don't do that. No spitting", or words to that effect. It worked. I was so rarely stern it made an impression.

It really is just a phase, if your friends have children they will realise and he is only two. Some have far worse habits than that!

I've also known of children biting. Not aggressively, just sitting with mum or dad and biting their hand or finger (a friend's little one did that to her at my house, she said he had done it a couple of times before and told him off). They just need to learn that it is not nice to do things like that, it hurts.

My 17 month old has started spitting out his water. No advice! Confused

I've tried being stern and saying no (I'm rarely stern myself) however he just spits more?? Would it be unreasonable to ignore him?

Depends what you mean by ignoring him. Ignoring his spitting for a while, maybe, because he won't go on doing it indefinitely.

We’ve had two types, spitting his water out when drinking which he does for a reaction. I don’t react but take it away for a few minutes.

He had just started spitting because he’s discovered he can. I take him up to the sink and tell him to do it there. It’s quickly become boring for him, he’s not really getting a reaction and it’s not as fun.
