Feeding question

So we have a perfect prep machine and I'm a bit confused about the milk storage lid. It's used to mix the formula but how do I keep that sterile?I was given one with my set. Its obviously impractical to sterilise it after every feed.
Thanks 😊

Hey! Do you mean that when making up the bottle you are putting the storage lid on to mix the formula and then putting the teat on afterwards?
We just put the regular teat on with the cover to shake.
The storage lid we use or we’re storing the formula in the fridge and don’t want to put the teat lid on.

Sorry if I’ve misunderstood your post!

The powder isn't sterile anyway. Is that what you were thinking? Smile

Isn't the point of the hot shot to kill bacteria in milk so if I shake the lid is that adding bacteria?im aware I may seem like a crazy lady😂😂

I just use the top of the bottle (screw bit, teat and lid) and just shake it with that on. We don't use tommee tippee bottles anyway so think that lid went in the recycling long ago!

@Mrsmch123 not sounding crazy at all! As long as everything is sterilised then I think you’ll be fine. That’s what we do anyway!
So the steps we take are:
Add formula to bottle
Machine adds hot shot
Add bottle top (the teat plus the bottle lid) which have also been sterilised
Shake
Add bottle back onto machine to finish :)

I had this dilemma too, we ended up buying extra lids so we always had one sterilised and ready. I think ideally you would sterilise it each time, but we stopped bothering as much when our baby was older and on solids. For a younger baby I would though.

I used to just swirl the contents in the bottle after the hot shot. It went less lumpy than shaking and didn’t require a lid. Try it. Otherwise I just stuck the teat on.
