Hello,

baby is outgrowing her little snuzpod, so now wondering about what comes next.
Was thinking of a larger wooden cot that would last until she is about 3 or so? I have been given some cot bedding, but I don't quite understand these washable duvet blankets. I think she is too little for them. At what age do you start using them? How long did you keep using sleeping bags?
Also considering co sleeping, as I really enjoy being close to baby.
What did you do after 12 months? thank you all, I am new here and this is my first post :)

Usually baby would move into a cot/cot bed. I keep the sleeping bag for as long as possible- over 2! It keeps them snug at night.

Up to you re co sleeping, but if you all aren’t used to it, it might not be as comfortable as you think!

Duvets/pillows are only for over 1 too- so definitely don’t need that anytime soon.

Agree with PP. I'd go into a cot with sleeping bags. Cosleeping sounds lovely until they rotate 90° and insist on sleeping that way! Grin

Both mine went into a cot (in sleeping bag) when they outgrew the snuzpod. Stayed there until they were 2.5 and went into a single bed with pillow and duvet.

With DD1 I coslept from 6 months with DD2 from her second night until they were a few months of 2 when they went into their ‘big girl beds. 3/4 doubles so one parent could sleep with them if they have nightmares or illnesses.

I have tall children and their is no way they would have lasted in a cot until 3.

thanks everyone for replies.. always interesting to read from other mothers.

so I might save the blankets for later then and will get larger sleeping bags.
@Fitforforty sounds like a lovely solution! did you co sleep with them in a double bed with your partner? I am just thinking the double bed might be too small for the three of us!

Mine went into the big cot in their own room. Transitioned into the toddler bed (cot with the sides off) at 2, then got a single bed at 3. If you like co sleeping then look into making the cot a sidecar to your bed. That way it’s safe for rolling, leaves a bit more room in your bed, it’s easy to transition to sleeping on her own should you ever want to but you still get all the benefits of co sleeping. I wouldn’t use loose covers with a baby under about 18 months for safety reasons and because they’ll get cold when they wriggle free overnight. You can get sleeping bags well into the toddler years, some even have feet!

Cot with sleeping bag till about 2 when he learnt to undo then so we got a little duvet instead. In own single bed at 2.5.

No. With DD1 after I returned to work we alternated evenings, one night I had DD1 in bed with me in our king size bed and the next evening I would sleep by myself in DD1’s bed. It meant one of us would get a good nights sleep every other evening. DH did the opposite. Then we graduated to put DD1 to bed in her room and DH and I would sleep in our bed until DD1 woke and needed one of us to resettle her - DH would also resettle her and come back but I would always fall asleep her bed.

With DD2 it was a little different. She is bf and would wake for boob plus now am a SAHM. There was a few months when DH and I were sleeping in the small double together and DD2 was in the king by herself!
