Cutting 4 year olds hair

Does anyone else cut their children hair? My DD is 4 and so far we've been to the hairdressers every time. It's been absolutely fine but she charges £10 for it which involves spraying it sectioning it into 3 and cutting and all in all takes 5 minutes. I don't think my DDs hair has all come in yet around the sides there's no fringe, nothing fancy and I think I could probably do it. Any tips?

I started to cut my now 5 year olds hair during lockdown and I’m going to keep doing it myself. I give her tablet to watch like they do at the hairdresser, spray her hair with water, use hair dressing scissor and use the technique I found on a YouTube video.

I do because I have a DS, cut short (expect for some lockdown DIY trimmer cut which we won’t attempt again!) I imagine if I had a girl, or we wanted DS to have it long, I would trim myself regularly and then go get it cut properly just every now and then.

yup, DH has been cutting boys' hair forever, though oldesr 2 now prefer barber.

I do DD's. she didn't have her first haircut until she was 6 I think, she had hardly any hair (very fair & fine) for ages so I vowed to never cut her hair, ever!🤣

if it's only a little trim then do it.
if it ends up a bit umm....rubbish you can always take her or just let it grow out

My DD is 4 and has long, thick hair. We’ve been going to the hairdressers since she was small as she has LOADS of hair! However, I did it during lockdown, including her full fringe & it wasn’t awful.. the hardest bit was getting DD to sit still. She’s good as gold at the hairdressers but not so quiet at home!

That said, I’m grateful her fringe is no longer wonky 😂

But overall, I’m really glad to be back at the hairdressers. £10 every 2/3 months isn’t unreasonable for our household income. And my hairdresser does her fringe for free inbetween.
