Baby and toddler sharing bedroom

Has anyone put a little baby in with a toddler before? There's 18 months between our two and I'd like them to share a room once littlest is 6 months ish but worried about the safety of it.

At some point oldest will need to go in a bed if she starts climbing out and I have visions of the baby getting blankets etc dumped on his head. Or books thrown on top of him. Am I overreacting? Will it all be fine?

So your oldest would be about 2 when they share a room? I think at that age she’d be able to understand not to do things like that; i think the bigger problem could be the baby waking up the older one

There are 2 years between my oldest 2 children and they shared a room. Baby was in with me until about 7/8 months so the eldest was 2.5 when they shared. She was definitely old enough and sensible enough to know the rules by then.

I have the same age gap, atm both cosleep with me. It depends how your daughter acts when your baby hits that 6month age. Right now my toddler is still quite rough with baby and yesterday I caught her trying to pour her milk on baby’s face 🥴
How old are they?

Yep they would be just 2 and 6 months when we put them in together, they're 21 months and 12 weeks at the moment!

Older one keeps trying to put blankets over littlest one's head and thinks it's a hilarious game when I take her away and tell her no. Repeat all through the day...

Ooh. Mine are 19months and 8 weeks tomorrow.
Off topic but how are you finding it?

@Ayyx I'm on a rollercoaster where some days I absolutely adore it and they are so cute together and other days where I can't do anything apart from sit the toddler in front of the TV and cry Grin How about you??

@drumst1ck it’s hard 😭 especially when both are crying at the same time and need my attention. But my toddler is so loving towards my baby it’s so cute! Before the baby came I was worried my toddler would be so jealous because she was quite clingy to me but she’s been a star 🥰
Oh I’m like you. I let my toddler sit in front of the tv, that’s the only way I can get anything done when baby is asleep! Otherwise I have to wait for both to be asleep.
She’s addicted to the tv, while I was pregnant I had no energy to play with her so sat her in front of the tv most of the days. But she’s learnt so much from watching these kids shows! She talks loads (loads of gibberish too) and understands so much.
