Hello, I'm a dad of 3 (Girl, Boy, Girl) and one of four boys. My girls are constantly fighting, at times quite nastily. What's it like growing up with sisters, honestly? How bad can it get and what's it like to parent multiple girls? I'm told how vicious they are is normal, but I was hoping to get a better understanding from those who know.

How old are they? I have two girls, they are young & currently get on pretty well. My eldest is really kind to little sis bless her. They do squabble but that’s normal..

I have a sister, we got on really well as kids. My parents were quite strict & didn’t tolerate any major fighting. We’d get very sternly told off & privileges taken away like TV time. It worked, we didn’t fight much & I was grateful for her company (I’m older). I think we were and are quite similar, we liked the same stuff, that helps. We didn’t like each other much as teenagers at all. She was annoying & small & not cool. I want to hang with my mates, not her. We were both hormonal door slammers. But I wouldn’t say we were ever really nasty to each other. Just the usual ‘I hate her, she’s ruining my life’ 😂 and then by family tea time, it’d be fine.. As adults, we are really good friends.

Hello, I'm the eldest of four (6 yrs between me and the youngest!) When we were quite little we were the best of friends but as we got older some of us fought a LOT. It did get a bit nasty on occasion.

Now I'm 40 and they are my biggest support and I'm so grateful to have them.

I really recommend the book Siblings Without Rivalry by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. It's easy to read and offers brilliant strategies for preventing and dealing with fights.
