Keeping kids safe

Apologies for the scary / morbid topic but I am feeling so anxious this evening and needed to reach out. There have been a couple of attempted child abductions in my area over the past two weeks, apparently from a known child trafficking gang. I am pregnant and have a two year old and a four year old. I'm not typically an anxious person but this is something I worry about anyway as it's just my worst nightmare. I am now so worried about having 3 kids and not feeling like I can keep them safe when out with them alone. How on earth would I stop someone if I'm there with all 3 of them and some guys tried to take one of them? Does anyone else have these feelings? Or any ideas on what the hell they would do to protect their kids? Thank you.

Who has reported these kidnapping attempts? If it’s anyone other than the police or nursery/school then they are not true. If they have come from school I would still double check with the police as often stories like these have been made up.

Likely to be bollocks, there are always anti-traveller community lies about things like this in my parent’s hometown, never backed up by anyone in authority but lots of public hysteria.

The police. They're true unfortunately! I know it's rare but it obviously does happen.

Have the attempted abductions happened with a parent present? I would guess this type of thing is more opportunistic, although I don't know much about it.

Yes sorry, I should have explained more. One with both parents present and the other literally trying to grab a girl who was holding her mother's hand! (With the mother's friend present too.) Both in busy places, in broad daylight. It's terrified me!

Where the hell is this happening????

No advice but I worry about this too. I have a 6yo, 3yo and 6mo. Baby is in buggy and 3yo olds my hand. 6yo is always close by but I mean I'd have no chance if a couple of men approached.
Hate the fucking world we live in, when we have to think about thing like this.

GlitteryFluff thank you for replying. It's terrifying isn't it. It may be my pregnancy hormones but I have totally lost the plot over it!
