How would you go about potty training in a flat with carpets and no garden....?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Have lots of cloths and towels handy to deal with puddles immediately, then get your carpets cleaned after they are reliably trained.

Dog pads everywhere.

Get the carpets cleaned afterwards. I potty trained my son in a fully carpeted house.

By pass the potty - get a child seat for the toilet instead

Pull ups

I don’t know why you would need a garden unless you was planning to keep them out there all day 😂

That's pretty much what I did with my first on the advice of a nanny friend. An accident on the grass is less stressful than an accident in the house. Picked a weekend with decent weather, any wet clothes got put in a quick wash and hung on the line.

In a carpeted flat I'd try to contain them to one room. Potty in the room and a towel under the potty to catch drips.

We are doing this under these exact circumstances at the moment. It didn't occur to me that we are at a disadvantage

SuperSleepyBaby · 28/06/2021 05:33

Get the carpet cleaned afterwards but use something like fabreeez until then.

Keep a stack of towels for cleaning up the mess.

musthavebeenlove · 28/06/2021 05:51

Put towels on the floor.
And keep vinegar and baking Soda spray ready in case of an accident on the carpets.

Crowsaregreat · 28/06/2021 05:58

We started out with a big wipe clean pvc tablecloth on the floor (we use it for doing playdoh and painting etc) plus cloths and cleaning stuff to hand. Honestly, wee isn't that bad. Put a towel on sofa when they sit there. If you have them in trousers rather than bare bum, tuck the legs into socks and you've got yourself a poo catching device Grin

CatWithKittens · 28/06/2021 15:26

Terry lined trainer pants will catch puddles and poos without being a nappy.

Opalfeet · 28/06/2021 17:52

Pull ups catch it all and it is almost a nappy!!! Highly recommend less stress for you and kid. My kid was fully trained at 2 years and 9 months including night trained (he's wet the bed once). Highly recommend. Don't believe the hype, you don't need to let your kid loose naked and peeing everywhere 🤣
