Is this normal teething? Baby now occasionally a bit sick

My DS has gone from never really being sick to spitting up after feeds or sometimes after moving from lying down to upright. This often occurs a good while after a feed.

Trying to work out if somethings going on or if this is a teething thing due to excess saliva. The spit up is often more watery than milk.

How old is your baby? Both of mine had reflux, and they would get sick when changing positions, and it was usually just before the next feed was due. Things like teething and shots always made it worse.

My first had the awful projective reflux from about 4 weeks old, but my second had mostly silent reflux that only became the spitting up kind when teething or ill. Did your baby have any signs of silent reflux before this?

DD used to vomit when teething ; the first few times I got her checked out at the GP's because it's not recognised as a side effect of teething, but after a while of it happening every time like clockwork in the 24h before a new tooth appeared, I stopped bothering.

In your shoes I would get medical advice though because although you hear a lot of stories similar to mine it's really just anecdotal evidence

Baby is 4.5 months and has been teething since 3.5ms really. Not huge amounts of sick like a teaspoon or two. Not projectile just a dribble out or a cough/burp and there it is.

I would think that’s pretty normal, a teaspoon is a really tiny amount, and I can’t imagine the baby is failing to gain weight with that level of spit up? Mine were vomiting up entire feeds, and even then the doctors were so slow to medicate. I had to really fight for treatment. Also, I think they’re only bothered if reflux begins after 6 months of age. But you know your baby, so if you think there’s something else going on, ring your doctor.

Thinking the same as @PippinStar silent reflux

Tatetut45 · 25/06/2021 21:16

Thanks for responses. I've just looked up the symptoms of silent reflux and he doesn't have any of those, also gaining weight. Just all seems strange as nothing came up before really except the very odd projectile!

My baby is almost 5 months and has started doing this in the last few weeks too after very rarely ever being sick. I've put it down to fingers in the mouth more often, loads more saliva and teething.

Thanks @peonyrose87 it's a bit reassuring someone has experienced the same.
