starting teeth brushing

DS is 10 months and has just got his teeth - 2.5 so far! (Is it normal for him to grind them already?) I posted a little while back to ask when to fit toothbrushing into routine, now I can't work out how to get his teeth brushed. He won't open his mouth when I hold the brush so gets toothpaste over his face! He's quite happy to chew the brush for a minute and then drops it in the in favour of something more interesting. Any top tips? Please

I brush DSs after his breakfast and morning milk, and then after his bedtime milk. He did used to open his mouth for me, now he wants the brush himself and chews it. If you open your mouth it does help, but the last thing you want is to be forcing the brush in. I do the best I can, then let DS have the brush, then at least his teeth are getting a sort of brushing when he chews it etc. There is all sorts people do like giving them another toothbrush to shove in your mouth, give them another toothbrush just to take their attention off you but am not sure if they work!
