Hi I'm a first time mum to a 4 month old little girl, since Friday my daughter has been pooing during or after every bottle that she is having this is completely not normal for her. I haven't changed the baby milk or anything she is on cow and gate first infant milk I know that they are changing the formula but my baby has not had the new packet yet, I decided to wait it out over the weekend to see if it was a little tummy bug but still nothing changed I have spoken to my doctor on Monday who has sent a sample of her poo off to check for any infections or anything like that I still am waiting for the result but in the mean time I got the cow and gate comfort milk she had her first bottle of it today she only drank 3 oz of it and wouldn't go back to it she just didn't take to the comfort milk so I had no choice but to give her the first infant milk again but I honestly do not know what to do I have tried everything I have gone back to making bottles from the kettle etc I have scrubbed all of her bottles and steamer but nothing is changing can anyone give me some advice on what I can do or try please? I just want her to feel better even though she is completely fine in herself.

Is there anything to suggest she's uncomfortable or unhappy with this? I seem to recall DS went through a phase of this at some point.

@orangejuicer she seems completely fine in herself I've checked temp and all that everything normal. The comfort milk though she just wouldn't drink she would taste it and just turn away but she was hungry because as soon as I went back to the first infant she drank it, I honestly just don't know what else to do or try I feel awful for her x

Hopefully you get an answer back from the doctors soon.
It doesn't sound like it's the formula if nothing has changed.

Is she having regular wet nappies? (assuming you can distinguish from the dirty nappies).

Could she be teething?

namechanging202020 · 24/06/2021 00:10

Sounds like it could be cmpa

From what I can tell she is having wet nappy's and I think she could be teething but is it normal to poo of every single bottle? I've switched brands completely now I've changed to hipp organic but still seems to be the same😢

Definitely speak to your hv or dr this sounds exactly how my wee one was with cmpa. He needed prescription formula. It can take a while before symptoms show as it's building in the body if that makes sense ? At one point my wee one wasn't gaining any weight as it was coming straight back out. Good luck

It’s normal for some breastfed babies to poo after/during every feed. So try not to worry too much- this could be very normal and may not be bothering your baby at all..

My 4 all got tummy disturbances when they were teething, so could also be affecting her.

If she’s well, is gaining weight and seems herself, don’t worry about it. Babies go through all sorts of changes and phases. I’d definitely call the health visitor/GP though, to check and put your mind at ease.

It's not impossible that she could be starting her teething at that age. A bit early perhaps, but not unknown.

My three were all formula fed and all went through phases of this. Especially whenever teething.

I don't think it is unusual, especially if it is a normal poo and she is well in herself.

If worried though, no harm in checking it out with your GP, which I see you have been doing.

Has she recently had 16 week jabs? They can upset their tummies a little sometimes.

Thank you everyone I've now changed to hipp organic and she seems a little bit better on this so fingers crossed this one agrees with her but I'm going to stay on my drs case until the results come back, thanks everyone really appreciate it
