Baby fighting feeds!

My LO is almost 6 months and for the past couple of weeks he's really been fighting feeds! Any tips for what I can try?

He used to be really good at feeding, quite quick and finishing bottles (6oz at a time, 5 times a day every 3 hours).

But lately just getting 4oz in him is a challenge! He just pushes his lips shut and moans. Not burps as I regularly burp him, it's like he's not interested anymore.

I don't think it's the teat size as he can finish a bottle (occasionally does).

I'm going to speak to the health visitor on Monday, just wondering if anyone has had similar/any suggestions?

I think he might have a tooth coming through (first one), but would this affect his feeds for this long?

Try 4 hourly instead of 3?
Is he on solids yet?

Try little and often. Have you started weaning yet? May be a good time to start and you can mix his milk in with porridge and eggs etc. Teething can last months - I used to put some cold bonjella (kept in the fridge) on my DD gums about 15 mins before a feed/food which seemed to help

I'd try four hourly as well? Maybe he's not hungry after 3? And increase the amount at four hourly so baby is getting the same quantity in 24 hours. My nearly five month old has started being fussy recently too. I breastfeed three hourly and for the first time in ages have ended up with one engorged boob today as he's been so fussy! Good luck

Thanks all.

I will try 4 hourly tomorrow and see if that helps! He does it after his first feed of the day when he's slept through the night so not sure it's that, but worth a try!

I haven't started weaning yet, but have been getting all the stuff ready so planning to start within the next week. Very true about mixing milk into food that should help hopefully!
