Is it just me or do Pampers make your baby smell?

I know I know, disposables are evil, and pampers the evilest of them all! I working on the reusable thing, and these Pampers were the cheapest in the shop. But they make DD smell really funny.

Anyone else find the same?

not sure about smelling, but whenever i have bought them for DS in utter desperation they always leak!

I use reusables about 3/4 of the time, but disposables (various brands) at various other times.

I think I know the smell you mean - very hard to describe - a sort of warm plasticky/slight chemical smell? Most disposables have this kind of smell (according to my nose anyway) perhaps to differing degrees in different brands. I think Pampers may be one of the strongest. I notice it more because the reusables smell only of wee (or worse!!)

I would agree with lollipop. That's the smell I am thinking of anyway and I think it is strongest in Pampers. Maybe it is because, being a 'premium' brand they have more of what causes it in them than other lesser brands have.

Come over to the dark side...you know you want to...{wink]

Of course, if you'd rather not come over have you considered using a fleece liner inside your pampers . It might help keep the smell of your DD, it certainly helps keep the gel off when it leaks out.

Yes - used to use the free ones I got, and gave up in the end as they smelled of nail varnish remover. Tesco own brand didn't though, and worked well for us.

Yes. Ds was put in pampers in the hosp the other day. Dh and I kept asking each other what that smell was until we realised it was the nappy.

totally, have been commenting recently on Pampers smells... Also a big fan of tescos own brand - they don't smell

SofiaAmes · 22/11/2007 15:13

I had that problem with Pampers. I found that Tesco's or Asda brand ones were fine and so much cheaper.
