Grunting

My DS is 3 months old and has been a grunter through the night and day since birth. He would frequently go red faced through straining and grunting.

It’s got progressively better since his digestion has developed and the daytime grunting has stopped. However, he now seems to only grunt from around 4am onwards. A few times he’s slept until then so we haven’t experienced it, but if he’s woken in the night for a feed (usually around 2am) guaranteed there will be a grunting episode from 4 and he will be inconsolable.

He isn’t constipated. It’s not a reaction to his milk (ff). The room temperature is fine, etc. He goes down to sleep around 8.30pm without issue and doesn’t make a peep until it all kicks off in the morning.

Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes we can settle him but often not and I’m at my wits end!

Is he prem? Prem babies can be noisy little buggers. Mine grew out of it by 6 months.

Mine used to do the same, he was 4 weeks early. It started out if the blue and stopped just as suddenly (he only did this during the night though, never experienced daytime grunting). To be fair I can’t even remember when exactly he stopped, he’s 16 weeks now. But hold on OP, it will stop ☺️

Is he a prem? Our ds was 4 weeks early and made the strangest sounds. It would be the middle of the night and suddenly he would suddenly make this deranged goat kind of sound. He grew out of it though so hopefully your little one will too. You could always check with the health visitor if it's a worry x

Ds was 8 weeks prem and was SO noisy,I didn't realise it was linked to him being early.
