Child vomiting from anxiety

My son is 10 years old. When he was younger he used to vomit before he went to playgroup / nursery and even the earlier years of school due to anxiety of being left. Once he was there he was fine and eventually seemed to outgrow it. Going back after holidays was the main problem, especially the summer holidays but by mid term he would be fine going. The last few years have been pretty much ok.

However, after the May half term he was sick at school on the Monday so I picked him up and school said he had to be off for 48 hours as per normal policy. He then managed 1 day back at school and was sick the next day so again kept him off. New week today and he has been sick again, so have kept him off again. Thing is he is fine after an hour of being at home, no vomiting, eating normally. He says he doesn't feel anxious about school but can only think its the same as when he is younger, that anxiety of either school or being sick is causing it.

I can't keep him off 48 hours for the 3rd time, would I be unreasonable to try and send him again tomorrow?
