Can teething cause constipation?

ds is 6 months today and he's been teething for about a month. He seems ok in himself apart from being a bit grumpy and having a fever occasionally. He hasn't had a poo for about 3/4 days. Last night he wouldn't sleep and kept screaming and today it seems like he's straining to do a poo and he just keeps crying and won't let us put him down, he just wants cuddles which is unusual because he only wants cuddles before his nap/bedtime.

Can teething cause constipation? Any advice will also be appreciated as well

I found it gave Dd runny poos so I assume it could go the other way.

Get him some prune juice to he’ll him go. If it doesn’t get better I’d see the dr and get some lactulose

I know a lot of people who say it gives their babies the runs but my DD definitely gets constipated when teething! Doctor prescribed movicol to use when she’s bad. Prune or pear juice/purée also do the trick.

It can certainly cause bowel changes, so I'd think constipation would be fairly usual.
