3 year old naps

3 year old DD has a nap in the afternoon for 1.5 - 2 hours however she is staying up playing until 8pm when i put her to bed at 6:30 (same time as her 4 year old brother) and awake at 5:30.

Would it be advisable to drop the afternoon nap to get a longer sleep through the night?

We are hoping to move her into her brothers room before he starts school but we can't do it at the moment as she stays awake. We want to get our 9 month old into her room alone as we don't want to put him in with 4 year old due to the worry of him being given toys.

There’s only 1 3 year old in my child’s nursery class who still naps- definitely drop it. That should solve the difficult in getting to sleep but unlikely the early mornings, bloody summer time!

My DS dropped his nap at 2.5 because it was causing him to be awake until 9pm when I put him to bed at 7pm

It worked and he now falls asleep pretty much as soon as his head hits the pillow

He is allowed little 30-45 min naps if he’s super super super tired from busy days etc but apart from that we avoid it

1000% drop that nap and watch the difference

My 1 year old naps 1-2 hours, bedtime 8/8.30pm, wakes 6am. He would def not be tired at 6.30pm and would be awake at 4am if so

Well that was a unanimous vote lol

My eldest napped until 3.5 and until now her bedtime hasn't been an issue as even though she stops up and plays her brother in the next room goes straight to sleep. Will definately drop it now. Thanks All!!

My DD used to go to bed at 8 and when she dropped her nap at 3 she started going to bed at 7.15 and sleeps until about 6.30. I’m not sure that you’ll get her to wake much later though as 6.30 is quite an early bedtime
