Transitioning from formula to whole milk

My DD is 11 months, 12 months in 2 weeks. I’m very confused where I start with getting her on to whole milk. Shall I just start transitioning it now? Where do I begin? And what cups do I start using?

Any advice or guidance would be so helpful right now. Such a confused mum right now

I started transitioning at bang on 12 months. I made the huge error of going cold turkey with DD1. She accepted the milk no problem but my god did it upset her stomach 😳 we switched right back & started again slowly! And we did the same for DD2 a couple months ago. Everyone will have their own way but we decided to do 5oz formula, 1oz cows milk for 2/3 days. Then 4oz, 2oz and so on. Once I was confident poos were normal, made the full switch. Took a couple weeks.

DD1 happily drank fridge cold milk. DD2 refuses cold milk & likes it a bit warm. I do 30/40 secs in the microwave & a good mix to avoid hotspots.

We personally chose to get rid of bottles at 12 months. I hated cleaning them, such a faff (we had Dr Browns so loadsa parts!). We used Munchkin weighted straw cups with both girls and they’ve been fab!

Does your LO drink water from a cup of some kind? You could use the same one as you know she’ll drink from it. Or choose something different to avoid confusion..

Finally, after 12 months you can worry less about oz so long as they eat well. I don’t measure out exactly 6oz.. I know the cup we use is 6oz & so I fill it mostly full. Sometimes she drinks it all, sometimes she doesn’t. I just do lots of yoghurt & cheese as well in her diet. Milk at 12 months is a drink, not a meal so no need to stress! Oh but I would give a multivitamin if you aren’t already!

I just started giving DD the cow's milk in a cup with meals and bottle for bed time, was meant to be transitioning gradually but then got too lazy to make formula so she's been having cow's milk only for the past few days...seems fine so far and has barely noticed the difference.

I just let the formula run out and then gave cows milk with no dramas at all.

My son still has a bottle before bed (ill take myself off to MN parenting prison after ive typed this post). He has everything else from a 360 cup, and is offered milk with meals. Water the rest of the time though.
