Mine never wore “t shirts” because they ride up. They just wore vests

Depending where you are, it's quite warm in the UK south so a vest (bodysuit) is fine (have short- and long-sleeved) and then have a blanket or cardigan to layer with if it gets cooler. General rule is one more layer than you, but it doesn't need to be a t-shirt. I don't think I put DS in a t-shirt until he was a year at least.

I didn't put DS in a t-shirt until he was walking. The reason being that when he was lying down the shirt would ride up and looked really uncomfortable.

Just as short sleeve vests - rompers are good too if you're worried about the hot weather. T- shirts ride up all the time.

Just vests until they're more mobile - vests keep a messy nappy more intact! And t-shirts ride up and must be uncomfy.

I didn’t have mine in separates until the 3 month+ mark, and even then it was just on special occasions. She was a very sicky baby and so having loads of body suits meant life was muuuuch easier just swapping body suits 3 x a day rather than having to dig around for a new top that matched the trousers etc etc. Plus anything that involves more than 3 poppers is an absolute faff!

Don’t know when you’re due but just bear in mind how quick they grow, DD was born in August and I had loads of cute summer 0 - 3 months bits that never got worn as the weather turned when she was about 6 weeks and that was that for nice weather until she was 9 months old!

A vest is essentially a t shirt but you might need some long sleeve tops for cooler summer days that don't quite require a jumper but vest isn't quite enough

NigellaSeed · 12/06/2021 11:03

My DS had a mix of short and long sleeve vests. Then as he got older id do short vest with a long sleeve t-shirt over the top, so he looked more dressed, not tucked in, ifyswim, but I like him to have a vest so his tummy is covered.

You can also put a t-shirt over a long sleeve vest.

I personally found vest and trousers much easier for nappy changing than baby grows.

Congratulations OP

Get some strappy and short sleeve vests, with the hot weather my 9 week old has been sleeping sleeping in them with a sleeping bag and just chilling in them during the day when we're at home. They also go better under clothes i find. She hasn't worn long sleeve since the weather has warmed up
