Pram carrycot - how to keep off the sun?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I am a first time mum!

I have a 4mo little one who I take out in the pram very often. I use the carrycot as she prefers the freedom and it is safer for her to be flat on her back.

I’ve always used the foot cover with this carrycot (just a lid that Velcros over the top). Would this be unsafe for baby in the hot weather? It gives her a lot of shade and protects her body from UV. The whole head area under the sunshade is fully open, so air can still circulate.

I can’t find anything about this when I search, just articles saying not to fully cover with blankets etc...

Any help would be appreciated thank you!

We have a Snoozeshade (www.snoozeshade.com/) that we pull over the carrycot with ours, works a treat!
You can have it fully covered if you strap it to the actual body of the carrycot or if you want some more ventilation then you can put the bottom end over the pram handle to raise it up slightly.

I wouldn’t use the foot cover as ours was very heavy and didn’t leave much room for air to circulate

I bought some oversized muslins and pram clips and then strung up a shade between the top of the carrycot and the handles, it worked really well

Indeed, do not use blankets or anything heavy

Can you not buy pram canopies any more? I used to have a lovely white, broderie anglaise one that shaded baby beautifully, was cool and looked pretty too.

I peg a scarf over mine! Gives baby something patterned to stare at before he drops off and wafts a bit in the breeze!

I have a parasol that clips onto the handle, it's annoying tho as you have to re-adjust it to move with the sun. I'd get the snooze shade, that looks better!
I'm not using the foot cover as mine feels very heavy and not very breathable, I have a massive Muslin I am using as a blanket instead.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I have ordered a snoozeshade and have pegged a muslin over from hood to handle as a canopy in the meantime.

I recently got this for baby, works a treat! Keeps the sun off but the air circulating
