Baby acne?

My LO is 6 weeks old and has come out in lots of pimples over his cheeks, they started just before he was 6 weeks (only by a day or two) but I’ve read that acne after 6 weeks is more serious? What is everyone’s experiences?

He was born at 33 weeks and 5 days and is now 6 weeks and 3 days. The acne started with 1 spot and turned awful at 5 weeks and 5 days. I’ll add a pic to comments.

Baby acne or infantile acne?

My breast fed child had a few spots across her cheeks, my grandmother took one look and told me to lay off the chocolate. So I did and the spots went. Your baby's skin looks worse than that though, I'd get that looked at by a doctor or other medical person if you can.

My 4 week old has/had loadsss of baby acne in the last week! All over his face too. It’s slowly clearing up, I think it’s normal and nothing to worry about.
If you’re concerned then maybe call the HV or GP x

Sudocreme. The answer to issues with skin

If you are breastfeeding then express some and dab some on baby's cheeks a few times a day. Clears it right up!

@StapMe I’m not BF 🙈 yes maybe I’ll Give her a ring.

Was it as bad as this? @AyyX I’m worried because it seems he’s having so late doesn’t it. Everything I read is earlier on?

I’m bursting to put Sudocream on @itsamegladon that’s what I do with my spots. but was told to not put anything on the face?

@BrizzleMaverick I’m not. He was early so in scbu for a bit. Have you seen it as bad as this?

With early babies you count developmental milestones from their due date not their birthdate.

I still use sudocreme for everything

My LB had this, HV advised to contact GP who looked at it and said it was very normal (something to do with mums hormones still in babies body?). She advised a little bit of child's farm or baby aveeno moisturiser on the very dry parts but otherwise it should clear itself. It took around 2 weeks for ours to fully clear after using child's farm xx

AyyX · 09/06/2021 10:20

@Fightingtobepositive yep, looked worse than that because it was all over his face. One his forehead, around his eyes, cheeks and chin. It was red like your babies, looked exactly like that but all over not just cheeks. I think it’s hormonal.

Baby’s* 😩 don’t mind my typos

SingingSands · 09/06/2021 11:41

Oh he's gorgeous! Congratulations!

My ds had this as a baby and it did clear on its own. I think my health visitor said not to worry about it and it would clear up, which it did. Took a few weeks I think (can't remember back through the mists of time and newborn dog!)

*newborn FOG

Grin
BrizzleMaverick · 10/06/2021 14:33

It will go eventually. Make sure he isn't scratching it as that will potentially cause infection, so some cream on it may help as others have suggested.

Fightingtobepositive · 11/06/2021 15:40

Thank you so much ladies. You’ve put my mind to rest ☺️

Newborn fog and baby brain is definately a thing. I’m in a complete loony world of my own these days 😂 xxx

My LO had terrible spots for a few weeks, all over her face. We didn't do anything and it cleared up on its own after a few weeks. Didn't bother her at all.

My little boy had terrible baby acne for the first 6 months it was all over his little face!! Some in the hair and neck also... I highly highly highly recommend kookoso oil it cleared it up in 72 hours!! Its was very minimal after and everytime he had a break out wr just used that and it really helped.. xxx
