10 month old wont sit in pushchair

Hi,

My son is almost 10mo. He absolutely refuses to sit in his pushchair, crying before he is even strapped in. When he was younger he had a pram that faced me and he was fine. Then for about a period of 2-3 months I never used one. Now we have a new pushchair that fits his size better and it is a forward-facing pushchair and he hates it. I really want to revert back to the old one for just a bit longer as he was better behaved in it but I have left it at my mums who lives about 5 hours away so it is impossible for now. We are stuck with this new one.

Anyway, I have tried everything, giving him milk, snacks, toys, singing, sitting beside him for a while before setting off. Nothing works! Most kids love the pushchair so do not understand why he hates it so much. It was not a problem before as Covid kept us indoors, now we are having to actually venture outside it’s turning into a nightmare. He is way too heavy to carry for so long!

Side note: at home he will sit and play alone as long as someone is within his eye-line. If he can’t see someone he will cry so I am not sure if it is linked to the fact he can’t see me when he is in the pram.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

Is he quite mobile OP? DD1 would quite happily sit in her pushchair but DD2 started walking at 10 months and she hates sitting in it.

Have you tried any carriers? If he’s strapped to you then he won’t be as uncomfortable to carry.

Yes he is. Does not crawl yet but loves to stand and toddle around with a helping hand. Hates to be sitting nowadays so it could be this that bothers him.

He had a carrier but we never used it much as he would get always get very hot and sweaty but I might give it another go now and see how he gets on.
Thank you

Maybe try a smart trike ? You could probably get one on Facebook quite cheaply to try.

Have you priced up courier to get your other pushchair back?

I have slowly been taking him out in increasing lengths. 5 mins. 10 mins etc. We managed half an hour yesterday without crying. I am keeping him entertained with a toy or a snack. We end every walk with a quick stop at the park across the road if he has been good. It seems to be working. I am going to try somewhere outside of our immediate area and see what he does. Thanks for the advice

See if your mum can post the other buggy to you or keep an eye out on local selling sites for a cheap two way.
