17 week old only sleeps when held

Hey! So my 17 week old will only sleep when held during the day and most of the night. He wakes up as soon as you try and put him down, he won’t go in his crib, his Moses basket, his carrycot, his pram or anything else I have tried! I’m concerned that by continuing to hold him to sleep He’s not going to transition to his own room and cot anytime soon, plus I am exhausted!! I don’t want to try the Ferber method or anything that means leaving him to cry. But as soon as I put him down he starts to cry! I’ve tried things such as staying with him to soothe him, waiting until he’s in a deep sleep,m before putting him down, picking him up when he cries and soothing and putting back down for over an hour....Nothing I have tried works! Has anyone got any ideas I can try?

DS was like this as he has reflux it was like laying him on a bed of nails, as soon as you laid him down he’d scream. But slept peacefully on us. All I can say is he grew out of it and by six months although still a sicky boy he was in a cot in his own room.

@pinkcattydude yeah he has had reflux since birth but his medication has helped. I don't think it's reflux related as sometimes he won't even sleep on his dad, it has to be me! And when out and about in his pram he sleeps in his carrycot (wakes as soon as it stops moving) and that's on his back. And he's fine when awake on back on his playmat etc. I think he just loves his snuggly sleeps too much!!
