7 months milk, food and sleep schedule

To all those experienced mums out there please can you share an example of your 7 month old milk, food and sleep schedule. Up until now I've been told different things from 2 health visitors and I just want some advice. In his first month of weaning I've built up to 2 meals a day and am still offering 5 bottles of 7oz at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 6.30pm and 10.30pm. I offer water with both meals. Now he is 7 months old (today) HV has said to move to 3 meals a day at set times. One HV said to offer solids then milk. Another said to offer milk as normal and offer food at set meal times. So how do you fit it all in? What gap do you leave between milk and food? My DS has either 2 or 3 naps depending on how early he wakes and how long he naps for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm a little confused x

I did milk at 7, 11, 3 and 7 approx (plus 1 overnight)

Food at 8, 12, 5 (all approx too)

As they got older the day feeds were replaced with a snack and water and by the time they were 1 they just had milk am and pm.

DS is now 9 months but at 7 months we did bottles at 8, 12, 4 and 8 and I did breakfast and lunch around 30 minutes after the first two bottles. Mine always looked for the solids right after and I found his wake windows were too short to space it out too much.

I didn’t do 3 meals until 8 months though because I didn’t get any sign he needed it until then and he reduced his bottles by a couple oz from then.

Since the three HVs have given you totally different advice I think that is good evidence you can take it all with a pinch of salt and keep doing what you're doing, increasing to 3 meals when you feel the time is right :)

Essentially it doesn't really matter. There is no one right way to wean and unless you're weaning straight onto McDonald's 3 times a day or something like that, you can't really get it wrong. I had DS2 in Germany and their advice is totally different again!

Mine is 7 months. Breastfed so slightly different but she’s been on 3 meals since 6 months (started weaning at 5 months and we built up to 3 meals over a few weeks - she loves her food). She’s my second child
and my first was basically identical to this. Our routine is:

7am - wake and bf
8.30 - breakfast
10-11 nap
11.30 - bf
12.30 - lunch
1-3 nap
3 (on waking) bf
5 - bf
5.30 - dinner
7 - bf before sleep

She still feeds a couple of times in the night as well, but mainly for comfort.

Paediatric dietitian told me to offer milk then food at least 30 mins later and to move to 3 meals a day from 9 months.

We didn’t go up to 3 meals until 9 months, she’s still eats hardly anything at breakfast at 11 months but we offer every day.

Everyone has a different opinion about weaning but there isn’t one perfect way to do it, I’d say do it in the way that works best for your family life rather than sticking to a strict routine, especially so young.

I remember feeling really confused about this too. So in the end I just fed my daughter milk as usual on demand(she is breastfed I don't know if that makes a difference). I then sat her with us at mealtimes regardless of when she had milk and did mostly baby led weaning. She is 9 months old now and eats well most of the time and it's all on her own schedule so I don't worry too much. Hope that helps!

I was so confused about this too when I was at this stage.
I always offered milk first and then food 30 mins later. As he got older a meal replaced a dropped bottle.
I suppose next question is what times does LO nap?

Vicky1989x · 04/06/2021 22:23

I gave milk at 7, 11, 3 and 7 and food at 8, 12 and 4.30/5. But I didn’t introduce the 3rd meal until my DD dropped her 3rd nap around 7.5 months.

Around 8.5 months she started refusing her bedtime bottle so knew it was time to drop one so I dropped the 11am one and moved the 3pm one to 1:30pm (just before her PM nap).
