Is it normal for a toddler to sweat?

It was very hot where I live today - about 26 or 27C. I took my 12 month old toddler out for a two hour walk and when we got home, the back of his head (which had been leaning against the pram seat) was all wet and his nose was also a bit damp. Is this normal or should I worry?

All of mine have been sweaty babies/toddlers/children. On its own, especially in heat, nothing to worry about.

Mine are both sweaty little things. Freaked me out with DC1 at first but have realised it’s normal for them.....

I’m confused - why wouldn’t a toddler sweat? Genuine question, not being snarky

@NewMum0305 I think it can come as a surprise with your first - especially if they get really sweaty. My DD was quite sweaty even as a baby and I remember being surprised as ‘sweaty baby’ wasn’t a concept I’d really considered before, snotty, smelly yes but sweat was one body function that I hadn’t associated with babies until she was slick with it and smelling like a wet dog.

Yes it’s normal but they are not very good at it so they can’t always do it well enough to regulate their temperature.

Is your toddler Prince Andrew?
Why would he not sweat?

my son does a lot! he is often sleeping in just a nappy when I have a duvet as he is too hot

2 hours is a long time for a toddler to be sat in a pushchair in such hot weather.

No wonder he was sweating!

Did you sweat ? Why wouldn't he? Just curious to your train of thought

I think a lot of materials such as prams and car seats are sweat inducing, so babies seem sweatier in the hot weather.

Yy to the wet dog smell Envy and the soaking wet hair at the nape of their necks Envy
