Babysitting etiquette?

We are thinking of using a babysitter this weekend for the first time and i don't know what the correct protocol is.

  • Do we provide her dinner?
  • Do we tip? Or just pay the rate.
  • What else do you do?

Thanks

How did you find the babysitter? Is it a friend/friends kid/agency professional that impacts the answers.

A local mums facebook group, so we dont know her or her mum etc. Shes also on the local babysitting app with reference, fully checked out etc

Just pay the rate - no tip needed. Providing dinner will depend on what time you need her and for how long. If she's just coming for the evening, leave a pack of biscuits and maybe crisps and leave tea/coffee out for her.

Pay her her rate + leave out some snacks tea/coffee/another soft drink option.

I wouldn’t do dinner unless she’s coming at 5pm or earlier. (Although if you’re going to be late I’d prob tell her she can order takeaway-at her own expense- if she’d like).
