Infant gaviscon

How do you all give infant gaviscon to formula fed babies?
I use the prep machine to make his bottles and the gaviscon instructions are very specific when it says to mix with 115ml. I make him 5oz and he doesn't always finish the full bottle (in fact not often at all) so wanting to make sure he gets the full dose.
Any ideas?

The minimum you have to mix with is 115ml - it can be in more, just not less. I was using 1 sachet in 5oz bottles and it worked okay.

@Vicky1989x thank you. I don't know why I got so confused with the instructions. I think it's because I also read the instructions for breastfeeding too and it only needs to be mixed in 15ml for that. I just mixed it in his feeds and hoped for the best. He didn't drink it all but will keep trying 🤞🏼

@Nazz10 I was confused at first too! It wasn’t a miracle cure for my DD, she was still quite sicky with it but it did help with the acid pain so hopefully works for your DS!

@Vicky1989x oh I'm glad I'm not the only one then 😅. Ahh my DS had silent reflux so not sicky, just struggling with pain and discomfort. Fingers crossed it helps

I didn't find Gaviscon that helpful for my daughter when she had silent reflux as a baby, but Ranitidine was next prescribed and was an absolute life saver!

Nazz10 · 01/06/2021 22:26

@Cam2020 oh really! That's interesting! How do you give ranitidine? I'm worried the gaviscon is going to bung him up

When my DS had gaviscon for silent reflux it helped him a lot but did bung him up a bit not not bad enough to stop it or try something new. They gave it to DD for reflux and it made absolutely no difference at all. Let’s hope it works for your LO
