Morning,
I'm currently laying next to my DD age 7, who has a terrible cold. She's full of snot & mucus, has a temp (below 40) but still classed as a fever, sore throat and a little cough.
Before I became a parent, I never knew what anxiety was like and for the past few years, I have a crippling physical anxiety everytime she is poorly.
I know there is nothing I can do to control her health, that my reaction is irrational but the physical reaction is becoming unbearable. My heart rate appears faster, my stomach is churning and I have a nervous belly. I can't sleep and even if I do drift off, the slight noise from her and I'm awake again.
I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant with her little sister and I know these feelings aren't good for her either.
I try breathing excersises, being present in the moment and focusing on my breathing but sometimes the anxiety is too over whelming.
Has anyone else experienced this?
What help did you get?
Any advice?
TIA

Hope she’s got better soon.Nighttime makes all worries worse somehow. Could you focus on how in the past you were worried about her but everything ended well? I do this and it helps.
My DD is 16 and I still have this problem (she’s got health issues related to her disability). I never asked for help. I’m not good with sleep when she’s unwell so I try to think about practical details and positive experiences from the past and read something light on MN like style or property threads.
