I cared for my parents one who had Parkinson's and the other who had cold they both recently passed away and I have some inheritance money as well as they're home. Now there seems to be an attitude from people including some who I've known for years who seem to think its wrong that I have some money and my own home as I haven't had paid employment for several years due to looking after parents they seem to think I've just sat on my are all that time and been rewarded while they've had to go out and work at real jobs that attitude angers me as they at least had set hrs days off and holidays I didn't have that

They're jealous. You don't need people like that in your life

RealisticSketch · 30/05/2021 08:00

They sound unpleasant and ignorant, if you can slide them out of your life I'd personally do that.

DoingItMyself · 30/05/2021 08:02

Ignore.
You did the a good thing, and it's a difficult role to play.
Enjoy your life now.

RealisticSketch · 30/05/2021 08:04

And I'm sorry for your loss, it must be a hard time for you after a long caring role, which isn't easy, too. Flowers

GiveTheGirlAGun · 30/05/2021 08:11

Yeah, some relatives called DH's inhertance a 'payout'. He'd lost both parents by 27.
It's jealousy, OP. Most of us here are thinking, "Gosh, what love and dedication."

snowy0wl · 30/05/2021 08:21

What horrible people your friends are! They obviously have no idea how difficult being a full-time carer can be and the sacrifices you will have had to make in your personal life. Would they honestly have preferred it if you had become homeless with no money and no immediate income?! You don’t need friends like these. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys I'm just going to enjoy life now and make the most of it that's one thing I've learned you never know what's round the corner
