Over feeding formula fed baby?

Hi, my LO is 6 weeks old and has occasional (thankfully not constant) spurts of wanting more food than his suggested allowance. He currently takes 4oz (120ml) every 3-4 hours, like clockwork. But occasionally has feeds where he will not settle afterwards and is looking for more food. Nothing soothes him, and when I offer a bit more milk he takes it and will tell me when he’s had enough by pulling away from the bottle. I’m very lucky in that he’s usually a very content baby, and doesn’t have any issues with wind or vomiting, but I’m scared that I’m over feeding him and that I’ll have a very unhappy HV on my next home visit.

Anyone had the same experience or have any advice?

@KM38 I think he’s going through a growth spurt at the minute too so I get all the fun things while husband’s away 😂 mine used to be offshore with BP, all over the world with limited communication, but now is on stena ferries so it’s a lot better, we can at least video call!
Oh man I’m terrified for when he’s mobile 🤣 I’ll enjoy these stages as much as possible before the crawling starts!

@Charmcg Yeah we’ve done the limited communication too 😅 offshore renewable energy all over the world 👍🏻 Now doing the same thing but UK based for the next year at least and a 4h drive from home which is lovely! Video calls are a lifesaver now with the little one👍🏻 He loves seeing daddy! Not sure if you have it already but The Wonder Weeks app is amazing for predicting baby’s “mental leaps” etc. It’s been scarily accurate for hours!
Honestly, just enjoy every stage as much as you can! I used to roll my eyes SO badly when everyone was like “just enjoy it, it goes so fast!” but seriously, it goes SO fast 😅 I feel like I just brought him home and now he’s ransacking my house 🤣🤣😍

Yeah start making bigger bottles. Both my boys would drink 8 - 9 oz at a time at that age.

Yes, make bigger bottles. Both of mine were on more than that at that age. Both are very slim now. DS2 (13) has to have pull in waist trousers pulled in a long way as he is so skinny. DS1 is a very slim 21 year old.
The time you do need to be careful with milk is 1+. DS2 was still having more than he should then and ended up constipated. Consultant said it was almost certainly too much milk. He was probably having 50% more then.
But at this age give him the bigger bottles, he is clearly hungry.
