Buying a house in Hatfield

Hi everyone!

I currently live in North London but I'm planning to move not too far out. I was thinking to start searching for properties in Hatfield but I'm not familiar with the area.

Is it a good area? Is it a good area to raise a child? Would you recommend it ?

Your honest opinions are much appreciated ❤️

Hi!

I lived in Hatfield for 3 years when I was a student. I now work at the University and have done for over 4 years so am very familiar with the area.

Obviously I have no idea what budget you have or what your thoughts were behind choosing to look at Hatfield, but my personal opinion would be to see if any of the surrounding towns or villages suited you better. I’m not a huge fan of Hatfield (we used to call it Sh*tfield) as a place to live to be honest due to the huge student population, there is generally not much going on bar the Galleria and it’s has previously had quite a high crime rate. There is St Albans just down the road, Welwyn just next door plus Wheathempstead, Potters Bar and Stevenage just up the A1M that I think are better (nicer areas and nicer schools).

Hatfield does however have good links into London and Old Hatfield is quite nice.
