Who is awake? Just wondering why?

I am awake as my 20 month old DS has severe croup, he is in distressed, breathing rapidly with whistling sound. Barking cough every 5 mins. Have been trying to call 111, they said someone would call within 30 mins, 1 hour gone, no one called. So upsetting. He is been crying and half asleep. I want to do something but can't. Helpless. Sad

Up panicking bout my dog. He's a 9 year old rescue from Romania. Reactive with food none of which we were told. Bit my adult son. Was told then couldn't ever be re homed, we have worked through this, contacted the rescue re health problems and the lies about him being healthy and they are threatening to take him away including police involvement. And he can suddenly now be re homed. Bastards.

Interesting reading this thread and seeing how many people are awake and the different reasons for that. I've been awake since 3 -dh woke me getting out of bed cos he has a headache 😒
I can't complain too much as I usually sleep well now. Have had years when I didn't though so feel blessed now.

Flowers for those who are struggling

...I've just fed my DS again but I did manage an hour of sleep in between. He's chirping away in his Moses basket now so I'm waiting to see if he goes back to sleep, then I will sleep too if I can!!

My 20 month old has croup, we have been to a&e twice in last 2 days. Has yours already had steroids @Fairlight99? If not just go in, don’t wait for 111.

Fairlight99 · 28/05/2021 04:29

@gggrrrargh

I’m up because I’m worrying about a work mistake. Not sleeping isn’t going to help my difficult day tomorrow!

I hope you hear from 111 soon Flowers

I hope and pray to God you sort out everything. Finger crossed!

Just a update. Came in to A&e, after having call with the clinician. He needed treatment and he had a temperature of 40. Plus heart rate of 150. He is been given some steriod and inhaler. Will keep us for 4 hours i think. Thanks all for your prayers.

I'm glad he's where he needs to be now Fairlight; it's horrid waiting on 111 when little ones are poorly. I hope the steroids work asap.

I'm up because my 2yo keeps waking up at 4am and won't go back to sleep. Doing controlled crying to try to help him learn to self settle. His voice sounds v sleepy so hopefully I am going to get a little bit more sleep before 6...

Amdone123 · 28/05/2021 05:07

Glad you're getting help, op. Hope you're both OK.
I went to sleep about 10pm, woke at 4am, so that's me now. Can't see myself going back to sleep.
I have an urge to clean the kitchen but don't want to disturb the rest of the household. Though, this could be an excuse !
For all of you with babies awake, I wish I could take them for a walk for you !

Purplesparkle34 · 28/05/2021 05:58

Glad your little one has been seen and is getting help OP.
I’ve been up most of the night with my little one who is very unsettled after her 11 week jabs.

fatisnotafeeling · 28/05/2021 06:12

I wish I had seen this the early hrs of this morning. I was and am still awake because I had a hysterectomy yesterday and hospitals are soooo noisy despite ear plugs.

DH has text to say the baby was awake a lot in the night, we co sleep so I'm pretty sure it's because I'm not there.

Op I'm glad your DS is getting treatment and hope he is better soon.

Fairlight99 · 28/05/2021 06:49

@ditsyprint

Woke up with sore arm and temp, vaccine side effects, taken paracetamol and that's settled now. Can't get back to sleep though. This time last week I miscarried. I feel so incredibly sad.

Hope your little one feels better soon op xx

I am sorry for you loss. May God give you strength and patience.

I wish I had seen this last night. I was awake with DS 5 months as he has a cold and his blocked nose was bothering him.
I'm sorry for the PPs who are struggling.

How's your little one today OP?

His barking cough is better now. Just normal chesty cough. Much better than yesterday. Doesn't want to eat anything. I hope your litte one is fine now? May he get well soon. Amen.

I hope he improves more and more each day. So hard worrying about our little ones, isn't it?

Mt baby is fine, it's only a little cold. It's just that his nose blocks up at night and it disturbs his sleep x
