Csection worry

Hi everyone...

I had a csection about 7 months now and still have the dreaded overhang.

I got an infection as my wound opened around 5 weeks post surgery which made the recovery really long and painful.

I'm a bit paranoid about getting an infection with the hot weather approaching.

For those who have had a csection..did you do anything differently to care for the scar in hot weather?

I'm very very overweight so my csection overhang is immense! If it's fully healed at 7 months then a daily shower and making sure it's nice and dry afterwards should be all you need to do.

Thanks @SpunBodgeSquarepants my experience has made me so so anxious about this.

I think it's healed as in can't see any obvious opening..but how do I know if it is healed?

Well I'm 3.5 months post c-section, and mine just looks like a smooth purple line now.

After 7 months it should be pretty much fully healed.

My wound got infected too. Mine was completely painless though it was just the redness and funky smell that prompted me to go to hospital. They found a non dissolvable stitch in there which shouldn't have been and think that was why bacteria got in, I had to remove 2.5inch of stitches and have 2 types of antibiotics to clear it up.
My scar needs no care at all, overhang is annoying (and very bad after huge twins) as it can get sweaty but it doesn't cause rashes or infections. I spray with antiperspirant to minimise sweat build up in hot weather. It's been over 6 years since mine now and I only notice it at the start of af or for a day after heavy deadlifts. 28+2wk pregnant atm and had no trouble with the scar.

If there is no visible opening and no fluid seeping out then externally it is healed and all you need to do is wash it with soap and water, then dry it, so no different to any other part of your body.

Sorry you had such a bad experience, sounds rough Flowers

I have a huge overhang after 2 sections and being very overweight. It does tend to get a bit sweaty in the summer but I check it and pat dry with tissue when I go to the loo.

I got an infection after about 10-11 months with my second section which really surprised me as the wound had been healed for ages. GP said it was due to skin being sensitive and it getting a bit warm and moist. Antibiotics cleared it up quickly.
