Routine for 6 month old

Hi guys! Just wanted to come on for some advice really. My little girl is 6 months old and I'm trying to get her into some sort of routine but as a first time mum I wondered what sort of routine you follow with regards to milk, meals, sleep etc? What timings do you do, when do you drop a bottle (things like that really!)

Mum of a 9 month old here! At 6 month our day generally looked like:

Start the day anytime from 6am onwards
7am - bottle
9am - nap
11am - bottle
12pm - lunch
1pm - nap
3pm - bottle then nap
5.30pm - dinner
7pm - bottle then bed

From what I remember her wake windows were about 3 hours at that stage? Things changed a lot with introducing food, also we did some gentle sleep training as she would only contact nap so we had to work on getting her to nap in the cot in her own room from 6 months onwards. We introduced breakfast at 7 months and dropped the 11am bottle at 8 months. We’ve just dropped the 3pm bottle so she’s now just having milk at the start and end of the day. She also moved to 2 naps at 8 months as she was sleeping longer and had longer wake windows. Smile

Hello, 6 month old here too!

We use an app called Huckleberry to time naps which is really useful but routine goes something like this:

7.30am wakeup and bottle
9.30-10.30 nap
~11am solid feed (only tiny amounts at the mo!) and sips of water
11.30 bottle
12.45-2.00 nap
2.30 bottle
4.30-5.00 nap
5.30 bottle
7.15 bath and get ready for bed
7.45 about half a bottle and bedtime

Wake windows get progressively longer through the day so 2hrs between wakeup and 1st nap, then 2h15, 2h30, then 2h45 between last nap and bedtime.

We haven't reduced milk feeds yet as she's eating such tiny amounts but try to do solids before milk so that ideally she'll start to drink less at that feed as she's gradually more full - imagine lunchtime bottle will be the first to go and bedtime one probably the last!

7 month old here...currently our day looks like:

6-6.30am wake
7am bottle
7.45am breakfast (sometimes have to give this after first nap if too grouchy)
8.30-9.30am nap
11.30am bottle
12pm-1pm nap
1.30pm lunch
3pm bottle
3.30pm-4.30pm nap
6pm tea
6.30pm bath bottle bed

These times vary a bit day to day depending on what time he wakes up and also depending on what I’m doing (sometimes prolong or delay his naps if I need him to be awake for something in particular but try to stick roughly to this)

I wouldn't worry about reducing milk feeds - they let you know when they don't want any! My eldest was a great eater and didn't drop a bottle till 9mo.

Wake & milk around 7am
Nap 9-10
Bottle 10
Nap 12- 1
Bottle - 1
Nap 3-4
Bottle - 4
Dinner at 5.30ish (with DC1)
Bed at 7.30 after another bottle
Dream feed at 10.30pm

Naps are usually 30-45 minutes unless I'm very lucky!

Thanks so much all! Really helpful, we're doing similar timings so that's reassuring, routine is new for us so hopefully in time I'll be less worried that I have no idea what I'm doing haha!

Really appreciate all your comments x

Don’t worry I’m sure you’re doing great! I had the Holly Willoughby book which I really rated and tried to follow these eating and sleeping patterns very roughly but as PPs say, your baby is the best guide!
