Do you give your 8month old supper?

Hi, just looking to see what peoples feeding schedules are. My daughter had her 8month check up with the health visitor today (will be 8months next week) and all was good but she suggested to start giving her a morning snack and also supper!

I feel like all I would be doing is feeding her the full day🙈 and it’s not like she needs to gain weight, she’s between the 91st and 98th percentile for weight and the 98th for height.

Just now her schedule is
Awake 6am -6oz bottle
Breakfast -7:30
6oz bottle -10:30
Lunch - 1pm
Dinner - 4:30pm
6:30 bath time and the 8oz bottle at 7pm and bed. She also drinks about 5-6oz of water throughout the day.

I mean I can obviously squeeze more food in but is that not a bit much for her? She never seems hungry and always seems satisfied x

What you’re doing seems fine but over the next couple of months you probably need to get up to three meals plus 2 snacks - mine started to get quite grumpy in between meal times so I knew he needed a snack.

I remember this stage, constantly either giving milk or food or napping. Mine suddenly dropped a few milk feeds around 9 months so by then it was:
6:30 milk
7:30 breakfast
9:30 snack
12 lunch
2:30 snack
5 tea
6:30 milk and bed

You can give a snack inbetween lunch and dinner.
We didn’t offer supper until the bedtime bottle was dropped tbh.

I would just follow your daughter's lead. My 8 month old has only just moved on from one meal a day to two so you are way ahead of us! Snacks and supper at 8 months seems a bit over the top to me.

I still don't do supper at nearly 3 as it seems a rush from dinner to bed often enough.

What am I missing, you are already doing 3 meals a day? Plus bottles

My DS always had supper because he only seemed content when his tummy was full. But you know your child

Thanks everyone, I think I will stick to what I’m doing just now and look at changing in the next few months.

I did give her some porridge tonight and used 2oz of her milk in it and I swear it’s gave her the biggest burst of energy haha! She’s normally sound by 7pm and that’s me just finally got her to sleep so I won’t be trying that again any time soon 😂🙈

We just offered three meals till 1. Then we added a morning and afternoon snack. Before 1 she just had breastmilk between meals, after 1 she only had breastmilk twice a day so needed snacks.

Paediatric dietitian told me to start offering 3 meals a day from 9 months old and snacks from 12 months. Up to the age of 12 months milk should be the main source of nutrition.
