Long naps - 3 month old

Hey everyone, my 3 month old naps for about 3/4 hours in the afternoon from around 1pm. Is this too long?? He has shorter naps of about 1 - 2 hours in the morning (2 of them) and then goes to sleep about 8-9pm until 5am waking for two feeds in between. It just seems he wakes for a feed, a nappy change and about half an hour play then is back to sleep again! I don't know if I should be waking him when he has the long naps or just leave him be! He has to sleep on me at all times...And he will sometimes wake up starving! He's always been a bit of a sleepy baby!!

How is his weight gain?

I never let mine go more than 3 hours without a feed in the day but that is just personal choice.
If he’s gaining weight well and is alert and content when awake then you are doing something right.

He’s getting about the right amount of sleep over a 24 hour period, but I expect you would prefer it to be occurring at night more! You could try waking him early from his afternoon nap and bringing his bedtime forward gradually (say 20 minutes per day) and see if you can end up with a shorter afternoon nap and longer overnight sleep.

@DarcyLewis his weight gain is fine! He was one month premature weighing only 4.5lb but is now 11lb! He has only started going for long stretches over the last couple weeks, prior to that he fed (and woke for a feed) every two hours. I thought maybe it's a growth spurt or something?! @SnappyMcSnapface yeah I was thinking should I wake him but was in two minds as he screams the place down when I do! He used to go to bed about 7ish but again recently it's got a bit later and I assume due to his long afternoon nap!
