Breastfeeding and antidepressants??

The doctors have said to use with caution but I am a little bit wary. She said if the benefits outweigh the risks them to do it and to be honest I think I will need to start them to be able to function properly and be a better parent. Has anyone taken antidepressants whilst breastfeeding? I’m not depressed just ocd/anxiety

Get yourself on the breastfeeding network webpage - the have a section targeted on what drugs are safe to take whilst breastfeeding.

If you can’t find information related to your specific medication you can call them or email them with any queries.

Lots of women take antidepressants whilst breastfeeding. The vast majority are totally safe and go in to milk in minuscule amounts. The breastfeeding network UK has great information as a previous poster said.

Thank you so much ladies! I have read and looks as though it’s fine for me to take the ones I’ve been described. Was just concerned as doctor didn’t really say for certain but from what I can see it’s totally fine. Grin
