Blanket?

Hi.

Just wondering when is it safe for my 12 month old to have a blanket in his cot?
He is crawling and pulling to stand but I was so anxious about sids the thought of leaving him alone and getting tangled etc makes me wonder if now is still to early.

He is usually in a 2.5 tog grobag but he gets quite warm especially with the weather heating up and his room is normally around 22-24c

I did look online but not much advice there.

Get him a lighter grobag? They make them in 0.5 and 1 tog for summer. 2.5 tog is too hot for a room that’s 24 degrees. You can even get them with feet for toddlers if he’s standing. Whilst it’s not a suffocation risk for an over 1, I personally wouldn’t introduce loose covers until baby tends to stay in one place whilst sleeping and isn’t flipping all the way around. Otherwise I just think you’re making work for yourself. Especially as they’re a bit less likely to climb out the crib in a sleeping bag.

Cellular blankets are safe from newborn.
My kids hated grobags so have had cellular blankets since they were born.

Lighter sleeping bag? I saw some in Sainsbury's the other day. Or take a layer of clothes off him?

I do want to get lighter sleeping bags but they are so expensive.. Waiting until pay day.
I might try a cellular blanket but he does have an annoying habit of wriggling everywhere around the cot.
He only wears a short sleeve vest under the sleeping bag.
