Toddler Sleep

Hi! Toddler sleep help needed. It feels cliche but having trouble with toddler sleep.
He was fine as a baby but if I am honest it's been a year since he has been waking up at night (various reasons, cough, pee, dream, just because and needs help getting back to sleep), DS is 2.5 y.o. He's got a brother that is 6m and sleeps through the night. I put them in the same room a month ago, hoping that newborn would reassure toddler but it's not really working. Not worse but not better. For the past few months it's now progressed to falling asleep, DH or I need to sing/lie next to him. Any books, methods, tips? Desperate for some sleep.

Does he have a nap?

I would - unhelpfully you might think! - say it's just a phase and go with it for now. You only had a baby 6 months ago and he might need an extra bit of attention. At 2.5 my DC needed us to sit and hold their hand but at 3 sleeps with no problems. Eventually we did a bit of 'I'm just going to check on X and come back' and now we can leave and they sleep.

Amazing you have a 6 month old who sleeps through - enjoy that!

@Fitforforty yes no problem napping, long naps of 2h. We try to put him to bed at 8pm but finally goes down 45-1h later and wakes up between 5.30-6am.

Then it maybe time for the naps to go or at least be substantially reduced.
