My 13 month old dc has been suffering with a recurring cough since about December.
Initially, she got a cough after getting a cold when she started nursery in October. After 3 weeks it got to the point she was being sick at night she was coughing so much with it. After multiple phone calls to the doctor (when they refused to see her), the hv saw her cough during 8 month review, and made contact with the doctor to say she needed reviewed. She was prescribed antibiotics and it cleared up within days.
Roll on the end of January and she picked up another cold again, and again it developed into a cough. We then all caught Covid in mid feb, and dc when being assessed at the Covid clinic was said to also have a chest infection (she again was being sick at night due to the amount she was coughing, because of the positive Covid test we got seen so much easier), so had another set of antibiotics. Again this cleared the cough up in days and she was back to normal.
Roll on April, and she starts coughing AGAIN. Her GP saw her relatively easily this time, and gave ANOTHER set of antbiotics. Again, these have cleared it up. She was also put on an inhaler at this point morning and night.
Now we’re mid May and she’s coughing again, still on the inhaler, it’s not so bad that it’s causing no sleep (yet) , and no sickness (yet), but it is getting progressively worse (again).
Has anyone had any experience of anything like this before and can reassure me? I’m starting to get really really worried. I don’t want any more antibiotics as seems such an amount in a short space of time.
She has had reflux since she was a few weeks old, and sleeps with a wedgeog, and we hold her for 30 mins post feeedinh before putting her down.
She cut her first teeth very late in the last 3 weeks, which coincides with when the coughing got bad again, and as she cut them had the most awful nappies, mucusy too. When she is coughing it’s almost like she has mucus in her throat she is trying to clear...
Any ideas?
