Not possible to put 7mo into own room

Not sure what my next step should be, 7mo is co sleeping, breast feeding and waking 5/6 times a night, he is no real bother when he wakes, quick feed and he’s straight back to sleep which is easy with the co sleeping as I hardly have to move/wake up.
With my previous babies they did the same but moved into own room at 6mo then almost instantly started sleeping through with the help of a few days of trying controlled crying. (I didn’t leave them crying for a few days btw!! YKWIM) My problem is not enough rooms for him to have his own room (until we can move to a bigger which maybe a year off) He does have a cot which is right next to our bed and he has his daytime naps in there and has learnt to self settle for the naps with help of controlled crying. I currently feed him to sleep for the night which probably confuses the situation as he self settles for his naps but I love going to bed with him and being with him at night, I’d just like him to not wake so often and in the cot (right next to bed) if it was up to me he could stay in bed but he’s started to wriggle and takes up quite a bit of space so husband thinks we should try get him into cot at night. Im just not sure if the way forward without the option currently to put him in his own room which helped my other 2. I’d like him to stay in our room rather than move in with a either of my older ones, but move into his cot for the night which means I couldn’t just roll over and feed him without disturbing either of us so it would be good if he didn’t wake so often. Any ideas?
