Baby just wants mama!

Hi ladies!

So it's become clear recently that my 13 month old doesn't like to be settled back to sleep by anyone but me.

Don't tell me to try cry it out cus I'll never do it. When he cries during an evening, he won't settle back down to sleep without me. I'll sometimes be in the bath when he cries so his dad will go up to settle him but he has none of it. Just shouts 'mama'.

Does anyone have the same or have had the same? Some advice would be appreciated

It's a phase, unfortunately. Have you recently gone back to work after maternity? I have the same thing with our son, I was on paternity for 3 months with him before he went to nursery, and he was clingy to me to the sane extent you describe. He's much better now, but there are times, particuarly just before bed, where it has to be me.

One thing thhat helped was, for example, my wife reading him a story when I was sat right next to them, which gave her the time with him but reduced the tears. But then again she was always able to put him to bed so it wasn't as bad as your situation. Best wishes with sorting it, it's such a tough situation for both parents.

I do 100% of bedtimes as DD 20 months still BF before bed (not to sleep-she hoes in cot awake and I stay until she’s asleep. She only wants me. Works for us. DH does other things to help instead though.
