Son is a nightmare!!

Hi,

Currently at my wits end! My son is three will be four in august and he is a nightmare!!! I would say it started a month or so ago when schools went back. From the moment I pick him up until the moment he goes to bed is terrible. He moans and whines, hits his brother, doesn't listen to any instructions, demands anything and everything and won't take no as an answer. I find myself counting down the minutes to bed time. I don't know what to do. Is it his age? Is he just tired? I'm starting to think is there a problem and nursery. Anybody else experienced anything similar?

Send them to the gulag.

@AmandaHoldensLips

Send them to the gulag.
I like this. Is it painful?

OP is he full time at nursery? If so it’s almost certainly tiredness. What time do you pick him up?

Lipz · 13/05/2021 19:30

I knew even before opening this how old he is.

It's not actually the terrible 2s it's the terrible 3s.

They're at an age where they are testing boundaries. It's their brains, not their fault.

Honest to god he'll snap out of it and you'll have your lovely little boy back.

Yes agree. My grandson is coming up to three and tiredness is usually the key here. The gulag does sound tempting though even though I don't know wtf it is :)

I vividly remember a fellow mum saying ‘We didn’t have the terrible twos but we’re having the fucking threes!’
It’ll pass OP.

@strugglingmumofthree you need to start your own thread...

We also missed the terrible twos and had the terrible threes instead. The joy 🙃

it's draining!! I feel like such a bad mum because I genuinely count down the hours until he is asleep but even getting him to bloody sleep at the moment is a nightmare! I hope it doesn't last much longer seriously x

I could have written this post myself although mines has just turned 4.... watching with interest as I'm fresh out of ideas. I've tried everything Sad

Chickenlickeninthepot · 13/05/2021 21:31

Solidarity. Mine's been dreadful recently and then won't go to bed despite being clearly absolutely knackered. I'm having a glass of wine. Or two. Just so I can really feel like shit when he wakes up at 5am tomorrow. 😭😭😭

mayblossominapril · 13/05/2021 21:36

Mines like this atm, it’s awful. It’s ok if we are busy and it’s early in the day but if we’re at home or in the evenings it’s awful. DS is so good at getting the last word in. I’m firm and consistent but bloody hell it’s relentless.
When exactly do they grow out of it?
