Are we doing well?

Well, I think so... But

Had a go with potties etc about 6 weeks ago. DD 2.3. Not quite a disaster but would keep weeing on the florr. Got fed up - decided to leave it.

On Sat DD woke up asking about the potty. Sat her on it. Nothing happened, but due to her interest, thought we would have a "play" at it, as we had nowhere to go out over the weekend. Over the course of weekend 2 accidents. Poos in nappy during nap time, one curled up on the floor. Nice. (like having a puppy!)

However, she seems abel to hold her wee. If she starts to go on the floor - I say "STOP!" and she does, and continues on the po. I remind her frequently. Often I get "no.. I can't" and doesn't want to sit, but every now and then, she sits obediently, looks at me with a cheeky grin, does a wee and is as pleased as I am about the whole procedure. Hand washing, stickers for the potty and a chocolate button follows.

All seems oK - and we are still going, but it is all about my constant reminding and vigilence right now. So, quite a lot of success, but if I miss the moment, or forget to sit her on it - wet pants. Which she promptly tells me about.

So. Now I am in a quandry as to whether to go back to nappies, but I don't want to confuse her. She is happily "lazy" and has never told me she is about to wee when wearing them. However, she doesn't often tell me she needs a wee or poo when in knickers?

Should I persevere? I am happy to, but wonder what wise words are out there from folks who have been there, done that...

Yes yes, I know you're all watching wife swap but now it's over, does anyone have responses? Pretty please?

Stick with it! It may not feel like it, but you've actually made some progress and it would send a mixed message to stop now. Go for it! Good luck .

Sounds like you are doing really well. I think the pants business confuses them at first. We've been having another try with DS2 (unfortunately had to abandon as he has come down with a sick bug) and he was 100% successful with naked from the waist down but the minute we put pants on him we had to start reminding him all the time and the success rate went down. If I were you I wouldn't put her back in nappies as it sounds like she is really getting the hang of it.

Wow - I am feeling all positive and really fired up now! Thanks indeed for your replies so far! Perhaps a day at home going commando. And maybe for DD1 too!

LOL the only problem with commando is it's a pest when you need to go out the house!

I'll just wear a long skirt - no one will notice!
