Eczema?!

Hi all before I start I want to assure you I'm not looking for a definitive diagnosis, I just wanted to know if anyones child has had anything similar and what it was just to put my mind at rest!
My baby is booked into the skin clinic at my doctors surgery and a private dermatologist but both aren't for a few weeks and it's the not knowing that's driving me mad!

She had a little patch of red dry skin on her face about the size of half a 5p? It didn't bother her at all but I mentioned it at her doctors appointment for something else and she said it was a bit if eczema and prescribed her hydrocortisone to get rid of it. Well it didn't go and the patch has probably quadrupled in size. Another doctor prescribed her fucidin because she said it was very red and might be infected. That had no effect either. She then had a round of flucloxacillin, again with no effect.
The patch seems to 'flare up' and get redder randomly throughout the day. It still doesn't seem to bother her at all thank goodness but it looks so sore. It's very dry and flaky. The doctor told me to moisturise it as often as possible but that seems to make it look much redder and angrier (even though it does go less flaky). And that's using a moisturiser called zero base that the doctor prescribed because it has very few additives and no perfume etc. I've also tried petroleum jelly and oilatum baths and in the early days I tried sudocrem and child's farm moisturiser which also had no effect. I've attached a picture. It's gotten a lot bigger than when it first came about but it doesn't seem to have gotten much bigger in the past few weeks. I've had people say it looks like impetigo but the doctors have never mentioned that and I've looked up flucloxacillin and that should clear up impetigo anyway I think. I pat the area dry rather than rub it to anger it more. I just don't know what to do, my poor baby! Anyone got any ideas or experienced anything similar? TIA x

If it's Eczema, I would expect one of the steroid based creams to work. Although with our DS, it seems to be a cycle or getting better, then flaring up.

For face, we're currently using protopic 0.1%. This should be applied at night, then washed off in the morning. The advice is also to use only at weekends, and not during the week. We have different creams for the face and the body, and also Epaderm ointment. And allow at least 1/2 hour between application of steroid based cream and ointment.

@ash93 Hiya I know you asked about the results ages ago sorry ove only just logged in after a long time!
It seemed to clear up on it's own. What it was remains a mystery! She did get one other flare up on her neck but that wasnt as severe nor did it last as long. I bathed her in only water or once a week with oulatum until it cleared. Hope this helps if you're still struggling!
